Cream travertine with dark stone banding, carved gypsum cornices and Corinthian capitals, walnut panelling and doors, book-matched grey marble, cut crystal, sapphire and taupe velvet, bronze. The arch is repeated at three sizes — the openings, the console, the backs of the sofas — so the classical envelope and the modern furniture read as one room rather than a period house someone has moved into.
